Hotel coming to Waverly this year

A Hilton Garden Inn will open later in the year in South Charlotte's Waverly complex having reached the halfway point of its completion with a topping off ceremony earlier this month.

The 141-room hotel in the mixed-use development, located off Providence Road near the Ardrey Kell Road intersection, is the first along that stretch of Providence Road south of I-485.

The hotel will have a rooftop pool overlooking the public plaza known as The Terrace as well as 3,000 square feet of meeting space.

Waverly's first office building, a six-story speculative property called The Hub, will open in a few months, according to a Charlotte Observer report.

Also set to open later in Spring is the city's third Whole Foods market, which will occupy 40,000 square feet of space in Waverly.

Already opened on the 90-acre Waverly property are eateries and retailers such as a Panera, Chik-fil-A, Chuy's, Mattress Firm and ULTA Beauty.

Once completed, the mixed-use complex will include the hotel, retail, office space, 375 apartments, 150 single-family homes and townhomes, medical facilities, senior living and daycare.

Construction on Waverly, formerly the site of the Matthews Family Farm, began in 2014.

Crosland Southeast and Childress Klein are behind the master planning. David Weekley Homes and Terwilliger Pappas will build out residential portions.
