Spotlight: White Oak's all-brick homes in heart of S. Charlotte


White Oak is a mature neighborhood in the heart of the South Charlotte area just inside the I-485 loop in the Ballantyne area.

White Oak's more than 200 all-brick homes are nestled between Elm Lane and North Community House Road, north of I-485 and east of Toringdon.

All of South Charlotte is only a few minutes away with easy accessibility to Highway 51, Johnston Road, Ballantyne Commons Parkway and Rea Road. SouthPark, Uptown and Charlotte Douglas Airport are all less than 30 minutes from White Oak.

White Oak's mature dense wood and protected wetlands to the north of the neighborhood (Four Mile Creek) provide a quiet setting as well as natural habitat for area wildlife. The community's streets are tree lined and entrance planted and well maintained.

Trotter Builders developed White Oak in the late 1980s to early 1990s on 96 acres of wooded acreage and former farm land.

Homes in the neighborhood vary in lot size and architectural details. Many of the homes have undergone updating over the years. On average, homes are approximately 2,600 square feet in size on lots of approximately one-third of an acre.

Resale in the last 12 months averaged less than 1 home sold per month for a total of 8 homes sold.

The average sales price of a White Oak home during the same period was $299,739 and $122 per square foot. The 8 sales averaged 96.3% of list price.

The highest priced sale in White Oak was $343,000 and lowest was $262,400.

Currently, there is 1 home listed for sale in White Oak as of Dec. 22. It is listed for $305,000.

White Oak is zoned for Endhaven Elementary School, which is located across Endhaven Lane from the neighborhood. Middle and high schoolers attend South Charlotte and South Mecklenburg, respectively.
