Located in picturesque Waxhaw in Union County, Lawson encompasses more than 558 acres and combines preservation of green space and nature with beautiful, large homes from various builders.

Named after explorer and naturalist John Lawson, the neighborhood devotes a third of its acreage to common land, nature and the preservation of a 150-year-old tree known as the "Heritage Oak."

In addition to naturalistic walking trails, Lawson has a swim complex, tennis courts, playground, fitness center, lodge and covered patio areas.

The 997-lot community is convenient to downtown Waxhaw and Weddington. I-485 access is about 25 minutes north. Ballantyne Commons Parkway and Ardrey Kell Road provide convenient access to shopping and dining at Blakeney, Stonecrest and Ballantyne Village. Cane Creek Park is also a short drive away.

Lawson was established in 2006 by Pace Development and has resale homes and new construction available. Homes were built by Lennar, Mattamy and Ryland (now CalAtlantic) homes. Home sizes range from 1,900 square feet to 5,600 square feet and are priced from $300,000s to $500,000s. Some first-phase (2006) resale homes have sold below $300,000.

An average of 6.4 homes sold in Lawson during the last 12 months for an average price of $374,918 and $111 per square foot.

Currently, there are 39 homes listed for sale in Lawson. A mix of new construction and resale homes are available. There are 21 under contract as of March 2.

Seventy-six homes have sold during the last 12 months for an average of 97.6% of list price. The highest and lowest sold prices were $480,000 and $235,000, respectively.

The neighborhood is zoned for Waxhaw Elementary School, Cuthbertson Middle School, Cuthbertson High School.
