Spotlight: South Charlotte's Touchstone neighborhood


The Touchstone neighborhood has it all if you are looking for a mature neighborhood in a convenient, central location close to Ballantyne as well as the Pineville-Matthews Road corridor.

The neighborhood is part of a larger area of South Charlotte known as Touchstone Village and is located between Carmel Road and Elm Lane just south of Pineville-Matthews Road (Highway 51).

Touchstone's location offers convenience to Pineville and Carolinas Place Mall, as well as Stonecrest, The Arboretum and the Shops at Piper Glen.

The Four Mile Creek Greenway trail is located in the neighborhood and connects from Johnston Road just north of I-485 to Rea Road at Bevington Place.

All of your shopping, dining and entertainment needs are less than 10 minutes in any direction! A trip to Uptown Charlotte for work or pleasure is only 17 miles or 25 minutes, depending on traffic.

There are 286 single-family homes in Touchstone, including many ranch homes. Many of the homes were built in the late 1980s and have had some level of renovation or updating. Homes range in size from less than 2,000 square feet to nearly 3,000 square feet.

In the last year, an average of 1.3 homes sold per month in Touchstone for an average sales price of $287,993 and just over $130 per square foot.

Currently, there are 5 homes for sale in Touchstone, which equates to 4 months of market inventory given the per-month sales data.

As of Dec. 4, four of the homes listed for sale are under contract. List prices range from $249,900 to $410,000.

The 16 homes sold in last year averaged nearly 99% of list price, with a few selling at or above list price.

Children living in Touchstone currently attend McAlpine Elementary School, South Charlotte Middle School and South Mecklenburg High School.
