Durham donut chain coming to Ballantyne

Rise Biscuits Donuts is opening a Ballantyne Town Center location Dec. 3 and will start its grand opening festivities Dec. 1.

The 1,400-square-foot space in Ballantyne Town Center next to City BBQ is the chain's first Charlotte location.

In addition to its "Old School" and "New School" donut offerings, Rise cooks up savory biscuit breakfast sandwiches and coffee.

A franchise is also planned for more than 1,500 square feet of space in the Steele Creek area in RiverGate Shopping Center.

Rise operates 9 North Carolina locations and is also planning a franchise location in Allen, Texas.

Regular Rise hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Dec. 1, Charlotteans can sample the company's biscuits at the new Ballantyne location. On Dec. 2, Rise is offering free donuts - first come, first served.

Ten percent of the company's opening day sales will go to Ballantyne Elementary School!
