Spotlight: Heathwood in Waxhaw

The quiet Heathwood neighborhood in Waxhaw is nestled away off Waxhaw Highway just about 1.5 miles west of downtown Waxhaw at Providence Road in Union County.

The smaller neighborhood is heavily wooded and has beautiful homes built in 1990 and later on lots more generously sized than newer, more populated communities.

Heathwood is ideally located between Providence Road (Highway 16) and Johnston Road (Highway 521). It is approximately 20 minutes to Ballantyne from Heathwood and 40-45 minutes to Uptown Charlotte.

There are a variety of shopping and dining options in nearby downtown Waxhaw or just a few minutes north on Providence Road at Cureton Town Center.

In addition to lower Union County taxes, Heathwood residents enjoy a more rural lifestyle outside of the hustle and bustle of South Charlotte. There are parks, green spaces and athletic fields just minutes away.

Heathwood homes range in size from less than 2,000 square feet to more than 3,000 square feet. Many of the older homes are full brick construction. Styles range from traditional brick to Craftsman style homes.

There are only approximately 65 homes in Heathwood. A total of 4 homes sold in the last 12 months for an average price of $372,000 and just under $130 per square foot. Sale prices ranged from $245,000 to $575,000.

Currently, there are 3 homes listed for sale ranging in price from $199,000 to $325,000. Two homes are under contract as of Nov. 5.

Children living in Heathwood attend Union County's Waxhaw Elementary School and Parkwood Middle and High schools.
